On listening to music while you work…

Listening to music has become an essential part of our daily lives. Scientists have carried out useful research on the music we listen to in order to tune out our surroundings and concentrate on work. They have even acknowledged that it improves performance while working.

However, when you are doing a task that requires concentration, background music can keep your attention from focusing fully on the main task; when automatic cognitive processes are involved, on the other hand, it can be beneficial thanks to its positive effects on our emotional state.

A study published in Nature in 1993 found that listening to Mozart’s compositions improved spatial reasoning ability.

So let’s see what we should listen to so that our minds open up and we’re firing on all cylinders ☺️

1- Listen to music without lyrics.

2- Choose calm music that doesn’t keep the same rhythm throughout.

3- Choose music that doesn’t make you too relaxed or sleepy while you listen.

4- Even if it isn’t part of our cultural habits, Classical Music makes it easier to focus and concentrate. (See: Mozart’s compositions)

5 – It’s also best to avoid music that has reminded you of bad feelings in the past ☺️
