Procrastination means handing off the things we believe we should do now to a future, “smarter and more capable” version of ourselves. Learn what goes on in our minds when we put off a task, and how the timing and measure of the reward push us to procrastinate.
Course objective: To take action with goals and small steps by understanding the action–reward cycle behind procrastination.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain how the time gap between the work we do and the reward we receive leads to procrastination.
- Recognize in everyday examples how the timing and measure of a reward affect your decisions.
- Get to work without waiting for motivation, using goals that set a reward date and small steps.
The course consists of a short animation; it explains the action–reward cycle with everyday examples such as the gym, exams and global warming, and shows how to start with small steps without waiting for motivation.
